It was a trip down memory lane; Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough, otherwise known as the Backstreet Boys, sent the young ladies into a frenzy when they appeared on stage for their sell-out arena show at Rod Laver Arena.
Over 12,000 excited, screaming fans jumped about in their seats as the boys, backed by a five-piece band, sang and danced their way through a well-choreographed set, bringing forth moves that were first displayed a decade ago. A massive screen behind them displayed video shots of their earlier days and many props were included as they flowed through a set of crowd favourites including Quit Playing Games With My Heart, As Long As You Love Me, All I Have To Give, Larger Than Life, Shape Of My Heart and I Want It That Way.
Support act for the night was Irish singer/songwriter Brian McFadden, who is presently engaged to Aussie songstress, Delta Goodrem. He jokingly confirmed to the crowd, “I’m actually engaged to an Australian girl. Australia is my favourite place to be with its sunshine, good-looking people and good sports.” Playing acoustic guitar for many of the songs, the mainly female audience warmed up to his performance automatically as he included songs from his upcoming album.
